President Goodluck Jonathan, Dame Patience Jonathan, other prominent Nigerians started their celebrations with attending a special Christmas service at St. Mathew’s Anglican Church in Maitama, Abuja. Jonathan’s mother, Eunice, members of the Federal Executive Council, and some past government officials, including a former Minister of information, Jerry Gana, were also present.
NAN also reported that the First Lady read the first lesson drawn from Isaiah 9: 2, 6 and 7, while the president took the second reading from Hebrews 1:1 to 12.
The Primate of the Anglican Church, Nicholas Okoh, led the service. In a sermon titled “The Jewish Messianic Expectations and 2015 Elections”, he cautioned that the 2015 election would be a critical period in the country. Then the celebrations moved to the Aso Rock. see more photos below..
