A 57-year-old man in Benin, Edo State, Sunday Osemwekhe, allegedly killed his half-brother with a machete over a pot of owoh soup, a local broth popular in the Niger-Delta region of Nigeria. According to police reports, the suspect reportedly committed the crime at Evboesi community in Orhionmwon local government area of the state, during an argument with the brother who reportedly took out of the soup prepared by Osemwekhe without telling him.
While being paraded at the state police command, Osemwekhe confessed to the crime, saying he was angry that his brother stole from his pot of soup without his knowledge..please continue..
According to him, when he asked the brother why he should steal his soup, instead of pleading with him, the deceased began arguing with him and an argument ensued and escalated into fight. In the course the fight, Osemwekhe allegedly cut off the victim’s hand with a machete.
The victim died few days after from injuries he sustained from the machete cuts.
