Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) under the aegis of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) in the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) on Sunday, called off the planned indefinite industrial that should have started today (Monday) after the intervention of the presidency.
A statement jointly signed by the Deputy President, Comrade Haruna Bassi and the General Secretary, Comrade Banji Olawode, said the strike was called off because President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the payment of the harmonised rating allowance of the Nigerian ATCs.
They added that based on the brief communicated to the ATCs by NATCA and the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association (ATSSSAN), ATCS decided to call of the indefinite industrial action that would have started today..
The trio urged members of NATCA to render their services by ensuring safe and secure Nigerian airspace and that NATCA will continue to partner with the management on the future growth of the agency.
ATCs had on Friday embarked on six hours warning strike that grounded flight operations of all the domestic airlines, resulting in passengers being stranded at airports across the country.
