Nigerian Army launches attack on Boko Haram in Sambisa forest

The Nigerian Army says it has launched air strikes into Boko Haram stronghold, Sambisa forest. Troops of the Nigerian Army in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force destroyed Boko Haram camps at Shuari, Adembe, Yerimari Kura, Yerimari Gana, Gonin Kurmi, Kore, Mainya Kore, and Lopere.

Employing the use of a Multi-barrel Rocket Launcher Regiment, the troops also destroyed the terrorists camps at Dure, Dure Kore, Jokwa, as well as several other camps..


The troops recovered foodstuffs, motorcycles, flags, Improvised Explosive Making Devices (IED) materials and military uniforms as well as underground tunnels of the terrorists, weapons and equipment.

“During the encounter with the terrorists at Yerimari Gana a number of Boko Haram terrorists were killed and some suspected terrorists were arrested who are being interrogated. However, a soldier sustained gun shot wound and fracture on the leg.”

According to Premium Times report, Three soldiers were killed as the Nigerian military commenced an attack on Boko Haram deep inside the Sambisa Forest, a major stronghold of the group, an official has said.

Several terrorists were killed during the attacks were many people were also rescued, the Army spokesperson, Sani Usman, said.
