There was an inferno at a filling station along Ondo-Akure expressway in Akure, the Ondo state capital on Wednesday, December 23, The Punch reports. The fuel state, Giant IBK Oil and Gas petrol station, and two petrol tankers were said to have been gutted in a wild fire according to an eyewitness.
It was also reported that the actual cause of the fire outbreak was unknown but was said to have started at about 2:00pm on Wednesday..
Reports further disclosed that there was no casualty in the inferno after an escape by ten persons including the drivers of the tankers and the workers of the filling.
According to the report, one of the workers of the filling station, disclosed that the drivers and the assistants were offloading into the underground fuel dump of the filling station when the tankers burst into flame. Explaining further, the fuel station worker said that he could not fathom where and how the fire started.
However one Victor who identified himself as one of the taker drivers stated that he had already arrived the station from Lagos deport one hour before the incident occurred.

The driver said: “Immediately I came from Lagos, I parked the tanker inside the fuel station and I was expecting the workers to start offloading the fuel into their reservoir.
“But an hour later, I discovered that the tanker started burning and I don’t know what caused it , as of now, I am confused.”
