The battle for the soul of Gabros FC/ Ifeanyi Ubah FC has taken a new twist, after Nnewi-based billionaire and former proprietor of Gabros FC of Nnewi, Chief Gabriel Chukwuma was restrained from interfering with the rights of business mogul and proprietor of Ifeanyi Ubah FC, Chief Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah and the club from operating as a football club in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
Chukwuma was handed the order by a high court seating in Abuja..
Chukwuma recently declared that he has taken charge of the club from oil mogul Ifeanyi Ubah, but a new court injunction has ordered him, his agents and other associates to “desist from interfering, impeding, obstructing or otherwise disturbing the plaintiffs (Ifeanyi Ubah and FC Ifeanyi Ubah) in their exclusive use of the Club’s football stadium,” pending the hearing and determination of a suit filed before it.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah had, through their counsel, Babalola Akinwunmi, gone to court, asking for an order restraining the defendant, Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, from interfering with or impeding with their rights to operate as a football club.
They also sought for an interlocutory injunction restraining the defendant from interfering, impeding, obstructing the plaintiffs in the exclusive use of the club’s stadium pending the hearing and determination of the suit.
The court, which was presided over by Justice Valentine Ashi, has fixed a definite hearing on the matter for March 1st, 2016.
